Grand Villa Argentina
Dubrovnik

The marble balcony overlooking Dubrovnik
Grand Villa Argentina is a hotel perched on a coastal cliff with a panoramic view of Dubrovnik, Croatia. It offers the most beautiful view of the whitewashed city of Dubrovnik with its red roofs over the deep blue Adriatic Sea, built on a cliff just a stone's throw from Dubrovnik. It is not far from the Old Town of Dubrovnik, which is only a 10 minute walk from the Ploče Gate. As it is located outside the walls of Dubrovnik, the hotel has its own parking lot, making it suitable for car travellers. (When staying at a hotel in the city centre, you must use the public parking lot outside the castle.)
The Grand Villa Argentina is an elegant white marble building under a red roof, built in the 1920s, and the hotel seems to use both the villa and the white modern building next to it. The terrace garden in front of the building is particularly beautiful, with a wide lawn stretching towards the sea and pine and palm trees casting shadows over the flower-covered dunes. Particularly impressive is the view through the milky white marble railings of the bright blue Adriatic Sea and the pine trees. After breakfast at an outdoor table overlooking the sea and Dubrovnik, it was nice to take a stroll through the quiet and secluded garden.
The room was actually not that impressive, but that may be because the outside scenery is overwhelmingly beautiful. Each sea-view room has a white marble terrace, so you can buy a bottle of wine in the old town and drink it on the terrace.
This is also perfect for relaxing, as well as enjoying the beautiful Dubrovnik scenery. The hotel has a small swimming pool and sunbeds facing the sea, and some people swim in the sea in front of the hotel. There is also a slightly wider beach between the hotel and the Ploče Gate. Here, where the midday sun can be strong, you may prefer an afternoon swim and a rest under the shade.
This place, where the scenery of Dubrovnik is always visible from the white marble terrace, the garden with pine and palm trees, the restaurant with a bright white awning and the swimming pool where you can dip your feet in the emerald sea, is quite expensive. Once you have decided to see the best scenery in Dubrovnik, it is a place you will not regret investing in.

You will see narrow alleys with stairs leading up the hill as you enter the old town of Dubrovnik. These alleys become outdoor restaurants in the evening. Tables and lanterns are set up in each alley.
Dubrovnik's local cuisine is famous for its black risotto (crni rižot), which makes a great lunch. For dinner, you can't go wrong with the mussel stew (Musule na buzaru). Or the seafood platter, which is an assortment of grilled seafood. Mussels and oysters are famous in the Dubrovnik area. The dish is served with potatoes and blanched green vegetables. They go well together.
