Brauereigasthof-Hotel Aying
Aying

Traditional Bavarian brewery hotel
The Brauereigasthof-Hotel Aying is a brewery hotel in the small town of Aying, south-east of Munich. It is the home of the brewery that produces Ayinger beer.
Aying is about 30 minutes from Munich by car or 40 minutes by train, so it's a great place to visit on a day trip from Munich. On the other hand, if you are staying in brewery accommodation and travelling to/from the nearby town, there is no better place.
Situated next to the church in the centre of the village, it is about a 10-minute walk from the village railway station. It is 'neat and comfortable accommodation in typical Bavarian style' and the fact that you can choose from a variety of pillows is unique, according to reviews from those who have stayed there.
The breakfast, unusual for a small hotel, is also said to be a 'feast'. The brewery-run restaurant and beer garden 'august und maria', opposite the hotel, is also very good. A little further up the road from the accommodation there are warehouses and factory buildings that were used in the past and at the end of them is a modern brewery. It is the landscape of this small village that is depicted on the label of the Ayinger beer.

Wish List
Here is a wish list of places I would like to stay on my next trip, including a monastic brewery and brewery accommodation in Bavaria that I missed on my last few trips to Germany.
Ayinger Brewery and Beer

In fact, this is not a monastic brewery. In Bavaria, where there are many monasteries with thousands of years of history, this brewery was founded in 1876. So it can be considered a new brewery. Johann Liebhard, who ran a farm in the area in the 19th century, built a brewery here. It is still run by the Inselkammer family, descendants of his daughter and son-in-law.
Despite its relatively short (!) history of 140 years, the brewery has not lacked for flavour, as evidenced by the medals it wins every year at the European Beer Star and World Beer Awards. A famous beer is the double bock called Celebrator. A famous beer is the Dopplebock beer called Celebrator.
