Family vineyard in mountain valley
Agritur Casteller is a lovely farmhouse located near Trento, which is a wonderful place to stop on your way to the breathtaking Dolomites.
As you turn off the main road to Trento and follow the narrow mountain road along the vineyards that cover the slopes of the valley, you might find yourself wondering if you're on the right road or if you've taken a wrong turn. Don't worry, it's totally normal! Just when you're feeling a little anxious, you'll see the lovely Agritur Casteller farm appear behind a small orange tree on the hillside.
The Agriturismo is a two-storey building, built on a hill overlooking the gorgeous vineyards that line the mountainside. From the Agriturismo's terrace, you can see the long shadows cast by the rows of vines in the soft evening sunlight. It's a gorgeous view! The rooms are simple and neat, with wooden furniture and tiled floors.
Marco and his family have lived in this beautiful valley for generations. They've been growing grapes and making wine here for a long time, and they're really proud of it! This is a bit different to other vineyards, as we supply grapes to wineries for wine-making. However, he still makes a few hundred bottles of wine for his friends and guests, which he really enjoys doing!
You're very welcome to sign up for a wine tasting to taste this special wine. And as if that wasn't enough, they also serve up a plate of thick, delicious prosciutto and cheese, which are specialties of the region. Marco says that this prosciutto is different from prosciutto from other regions. It's probably a prosciutto called 'Spec' that is dried in the fresh air blowing from the Dolomite Mountains. And they also serve the most delicious honey from a friend's farm, which the host recommends dipping cheese in!
The next day, early in the morning, I took a stroll along the valley's vineyards and watched the fog of the valley's grapes rise and disappear. I thought to myself, this is what a quiet, peaceful life is like, where every day passes quietly.

Tasting Marco's special wine
This bottle of wine is full of wonderful stories about the Marco family. The wine label is really lovely – it's called 'GLOREIT' and has a hexagonal pattern. This lovely hexagonal shape is said to be inspired by the old hexagonal tower on the hill. This old building, which you can still see next to the agriturismo and the vineyard, is said to have been used by his grandfather a long time ago.
